An implant overdenture is a detachable prosthesis that is secured in place by implants inserted into your jawbone. The denture is kept firmly in your mouth by snapping onto the implants, but you may take them out as needed. To secure and hold the denture in place, the denture-type prosthesis fits "over" the implants.
Implant overdentures "snap" onto titanium posts that have been surgically inserted into your jawbone. Compared to standard dentures, they provide more stability.
Conventional dentures use sticky glues or suction to keep in place while resting on your gums. Slipping may result from this. Implant overdentures are directly attached to implants. Consider a button for a jacket. The button on the jacket is the implant. There is a corresponding "snap" on the bottom of the denture. All you have to do is press the denture in until you hear or feel a click.

You depart with a firmer "snap" and a snug fit.
With this method, implants inserted into your upper and/or lower jaw hold the overdenture in place while it sits directly on your gums. The overdenture is detachable and "snaps" onto the implants. Compared to not having implants, this option makes your dentures more stable while chewing. For cleaning and routine maintenance visits, the denture is simple to remove. The amount of retention will depend on the number of implants placed. Typically, 2 or more in the lower and 4 or more in the upper. The more implants used, the more retention and the less reliance on gum support.
Giving you a powerful bite is one of the main benefits of overdentures over regular dentures. Some even contend that it is just as robust as actual teeth, something that conventional dentures cannot match. Overdentures won't place you under any dietary restrictions, but traditional dentures frequently make it difficult to eat chewy or hard foods.
